Also, a note to anyone who is having a tricky tray during the cold weather months - if you have a hallway where people can stand on line instead of waiting outside in 30 degree weather, let them wait inside. I don't think there is any harm in that and I don't think it would cause any disruption. I think it would make a lot of people happy not to have to wait out in the cold.

Regular Prize Table - 5 sheets for $20.00 and the prizes/baskets range in price from $25.00 - $55.00...Please note *each additional sheet is just $1.00!
the next level is our Big Prize Table and tickets are 3 tickets for $5.00 and the prizes/baskets range in price from $60 - $85, our 3rd prize level - The Super Table is 2 Tickets for $5.00 and ranges from $100 and up. Our Homemade items table is new this year and tickets are $1.00 each and the prices of items range anywhere from $40.00-$150.00. 50/50 drawing will be 10 tickets for $5.00. 3-4 years ago St Bart's was a good tricky tray. They've gone downhill. Only about 140 prizes for about 420 people. What were they not thinking of? The caller is the same caller they have every year. He's a weatherman on TV. Not impressed. Too slow for only 140 prizes we should have been out of there in nothing flat. People were talking too loud because they were bored.

the ticket prices on the specials were way out of whack, definately too high for the prizes they had.
also, no used items ever ! We pay good money at these events, if we want used items will will buy them at a consignment shop or garage sale.
i didn't get the thing about the 50/50's either, but i guess everyone has their own way of doing things.
the caller was nice and quick, so very happy to be out that early.
in the Pocono's and it wasn't worth my drive. They made it sound a whole lot better then it was. Not enough prizes for the amount they were charging for tickets and the prize value themselves were just not worth it. I know it was there first one so my warning to them improve 2000% before you decide to do another one.

You guys all vent about some really crazy things on here, and that you would never attend again and all that, like you are punishing the VOLUNTEERS who are doing their best to raise money for people or organizations that really need it! You are entitled to your opinion and have every right to voice it, but in most cases the only people you are punishing are the recipients who receive the donation, not the people running it. Many people do this as a fundraiser for local charities, schools, education where the benefit of the money goes to someone other than the people running it. Something to think about before you post about how a seat was not right for you, or the caller was loud, or a basket didn't suit your liking.

No one is taking direct aim at "VOLUNTEERS", but when you are spending $100+ dollars on an event, PER PERSON, you expect to be accomodated and not have to put up with crappy prizes and UNTRAINED volunteers. Often times volunteers get caught up in the moment and lose sight of the purpose of the event. I attended an auction in Woodbridge/Iselin just recently and one of the volunteers and a police officer almost got smacked because of their extremely nasty attitude and disposition. Granted, there are a lot of people in attendance, but be mindful that you have people there from all walks of life and people who will not put up with your anxiety attack because you are raising a lot of money. If you sell 400 tickets, then have prizes worthy of selling 400 tickets and not be so consumed with making that $10 per person at the door or overcharging for items that you can find in a good dollar store. Further, make accomodations for your people to make them comfortable and not just try to cram them into small rooms and expect them to be content.
I could go on and on here but at this point... you should get the message. If you are a good volunteer then we thank you for being a good volunteer. If your organization really needs the money, then act like you need the money and not have 400 people turn around and go back out the door because you are giving them your rear end to kiss when you don't give a darn about their comfort.
I am a serious tricky tray attender. I spend a lot of money.. I win a lot and I don't mind speaking out on behalf of my fellow tricky trayers!

I agree completely. If you treat people horribly, have substandard prizes and don't care about the comfort and well being of the people in attendence, then you've failed in your goal to raise funds for a worthy cause. If you want people to support your orgainzation and spend the money, you have to make it worth it. I am a serious tricky tray attender and I have no problem spending 100-200 dollars a night. I also win some very nice prizes. However, I'm not about to spend any money if I don't feel it's worth it. I'm not a philantropist who gives money freely just because I can. Some of these groups act like they are doing you a favor when in fact, the attendees are doing the orgainzation a favor. Treat people badly and they don't return. Word gets around, and pretty soon, the organization has a hall full of prizes and no one there to win them.
It's been a busy year at TrickyTray.com. October broke all records with 2859 unique visitors with an average of 2.47 visits per visitor.
The next 2 busiest months were March & November.

It was at the St Elizaeth TT last night. I thought it was very inappropriate for this to be allowed. Not enought table and chairs available for the clients I think it against the lawa for the alcohol and children to be present.
As far as the kids, they seemed very well behaved to me. I have no issue with that - it's when there are 5 year olds running wild that I go nuts.
It was a very long nite, and I hope they will consider grouping up the gifts with some of the gift cards next year to increase the value of the prizes, but reduce the number of prizes and the amount of time it takes to call all of those numbers. There were almost 500 prizes...approx. 369 regulars,111 grands,15 super grands, the big flat screen tv and the 50/50!
Proceeds go to benefit the theater's building revamping & renovations in time for our impending 75th Anniversary season.
$25 gets you a sheet of first-level tickets, and a 4-course family style dinner. I've had their dinner, and it's delicious!
4 levels of prizes (regular, medium, large, and grand), some of which are REALLY interesting - we've got a Sopranos gift basket with a signed copy of a script!

I attended my first tricky tray last evening and was somewhat appalled with the behavior of the crowd. As I sat back and observed, I asked myself, "Are these the parents of our next generation"? I can only imagine how much work goes into these events, and to hear the mouths on some of the women were truly amazing.
To think I once thought I've seen it all.
While the prizes were really nice, I highly doubt those who attended NEEDED anything. But got so angry when someone won two or more prizes.
Step back, take a breath, and thank the organizers for their hard work. Then, take home with you the donor list and write one or two of them a thank you note. I did not see one person look into the donor booklet. Too bad..
I am the chairperson of this event and I am sorry that you feel this way and find it necessary to make a negative comment.
The delay in receiving your discounted tickets, a priveledge most TT's don't even offer, is because we ordered and paid for these tickets and were told by the merchant we would have them within 3 days, that was 4 weeks ago, we only just received them on Friday. If you asked for the tickets to be mailed they will be in the mail on Monday, if you asked to pick them up they will be at the School Office after 12:00pm on Monday. At that point, you will see there are 26 tickets per sheet for the small and medium prizes.
The number that was given on the TT website for information is not the school office number, a dcision that was made on purpose. These women are very busy taking care of matters of the school and the children, not the TT. All fundraising efforts including this TT are done by Volunteers, and for this event, for which there are over 500 baskets, there are only 5 women in total working their very best to make sure this event is as big of a success as last year.
Although I understand your desire to receive your tickets and be able to relax that evening, I would appreciate your understanding that some things are beyond our control. We are doing the best we can. I can absolutely assure you that this TT event will be one of, if not the best, of the year.
I attended the St. Joseph Tricky Tray last year and again purchased a whole table this year. This is an extremely well run, very organized event, not to mention the baskets are unbelievable. The amount of work and planning that goes into this one, from the decorations to the baskets, from ticket sales, discounts and directions it so very evident. These women think of everything. My experience with this TT has been nothing but wonderful.
Congratulations on the success of your event last year and best wishes for continued success this year. My friends and I are really looking forward to this TT.
Caller was good, but just wouldn't call certain series of numbers. There were a lot of quiet tables. Overall, I came out with expensive prizes, but I felt as though I should have won something else besides what I got. I am not sad though, because my items were coveted and were expensive.
Will I attend another? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! Great job Roselle Catholic!
You guys must have over 6 hundred baskets this year....I saw some 30 Coach bags listed and lots of other great stuff. I don't know how you do it.
Keep up the great work. Thank God for people like you...The Children and parents at SJS should consider themselves blessed to have such ANGELS by their side.
The prizes were good. The people that put the wrong color ticket in had paid more money and put the expensive one in. I don't think that they honored the small table tickets in the larger prizes. So that was their loss.
(and by the way, gift certificates are considered merchandise)

prize(s) by chance as follows: "Persons under the age of 18 years are not permitted to
participate in this game of chance (N.J.S.A. 5:8-59)." That means those prizes can be offered where children are present, but they cannot participate.
Also the NJ reg 8-32 is for bingo.
